A Word About Translation Requests:

Generally, the Community is not opposed to reasonable requests for help translating between Japanese and English (or any other language). However, if you would like the Community's help with a translation, please follow the guidelines below.
1) Please put long (25+ lines) requests behind an LJ-cut. (see here for help on how to use the LJ-cut feature.)
2) Please do not ask us to do your homework. If you're studying for a test and are stuck, that's probably okay. If you're just feeling a bit lazy, that's not okay.
3) Please put some reasonable effort into making the translation yourself. The "USEFUL LINKS" above will answer a whole lot of questions. If you have already Googled and tried your best, please include that information (and what you found) in your translation request post.
4) Please be polite and patient. No one here gets paid to do your translation for you.

Follow these guidelines to happy fun-time translation shiny-people!

[Community members: feel free to suggest further guidelines.]

For clarity's sake -- this community is not restricted to any particular language. Japanese is encouraged as much as possible for the sake of fun and learning, but questions and explanations in English or any other language are entirely acceptable. (I especially encourage those who are posting in languages other than English to use a high degree of discretion when it comes to courtesy, since the moderator will likely be unable to step in if someone's being inappropriate.)

This community is not focused particularly on students of Japanese. Please feel free to use this as a forum for native speakers to converse and enjoy themselves.

Please do not feed the trolls. Please put long (25+ lines) posts behind an LJ-Cut.

Please do not post a self-introduction.

Sales posts that are strictly related to Japanese study materials (i.e., NOT things such as Japanese-language manga) are allowed. Feel free to use your own discretion on borderline cases. If cross-posting from your own journal where you have an entry with non-language items, please be sure to remove these items from your posting to japanese. Additionally, linking directly to pages with other types of items will be allowed, but only if those pages contain language items, and only if all information provided on your post on japanese regards the language items.

Please contact community moderator tsukikage85 if you have any problems, questions, or suggestions.

If you'd like to post, please send the moderator a note or comment indicating that you have read this profile and requesting posting access, and we will enable your posting ability.

Any requests for posting access that do not indicate that you have read this profile demonstrate that you are not willing to follow the rules. As such, requests for posting access that do not indicate that you have read this profile will be rejected.

(Although I try to process each request as soon as possible, I have on occasion managed to forget to do so. If you don't receive a response within a day or two, send me a second message as a reminder.)
